Japan’s king of the mountain Nobuhiro MONSTER Tajima was back to defend his title in the monster sport ae86 super special . built for one thing, winning! the stats on this car are astonishing , Unfortunate for monster a failure of the rear wing loosing downforce caused the ae86 to exit the track in spectacular fashion . the roll cage and protection systems well engineered monster was not only able to walk away but also sign autographs before departing . no doubt already planning next year.

Tony Quinn’s custom built ford focus v6 dubbed the monster tamear was doing well with big improvement of time over the weekend , although Tony not having much seat time in the tube framed machine and admitting part way through he had a fear of hights but still managed to put down good times near the end !

Brett Hayward made the trip from over the ditch. bringing the purpose built supercharged hyaybusa 400hp 500kg was strong all weekend putting pressure on the other posting the fastest time up the mountain on the Saturdays runs .

Steve Rilleys also made the trip from aussie brining his 1000hp xf holden ute, definaty got the biggest air on the jump of the shootout !

The King of the mountain ,

Alister McRae Takes out the 2015 Race To the sky in The same car that took out the  win at the first Race To The Sky back in 2001 piloted buy the late great Possum Bourne. The Possum Bourne motorsport 750hp Vantage subaru wrc seemed strong on the lead up to the race but suffered from a mechanical problem on the sunday. The team worked hard after the mechanical problems nearly sending the team home early forcing them into a last  minute engine swap with an engine slightly down on power of the one that had problems but you wouldnt know it as Alister certainly impressed the crowed , dust trails could be seen almost all the way up the mountain from the ground as the crowed where on there feat waiting patiently for the time to be relayed back down to reveal Alister had done what they had set out do do and take out the 2015 Race To The Sky king of the mountain !

Unfortunately we are sad to be informed there will be no more race’s to the sky due to a hand full of people’s greed ruining it for others . a great shame as there was no doubt alot of money would of been brought into the area to what would of no doubt of been a world class event .
